Composer, conductor and prominent master of Iranian music, the renowned artist and member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ), Mr. Andranik Asatourian passed away on Sunday, February 22, at the age of 73 due to cancer at a hospital.
Mr. Andranik, as a Christian artist was pride of the Iranian music and the distinctive vanguard of modern music and the father of pop music in Iran.
Not just for his 50 years of substantial and creative record in arts and his eternal works that he left behind, but for his righteousness and prominent humanitarian character and his contribution to the just resistance of the Iranian people and his unceasing support of the freedom-fighters in Ashraf and Camp Liberty, he enjoyed much love and respect among Iranians and the freedom-loving Iranians. Since the 1990s he began his cooperation with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the NCRI and in the past 20 years he continuously offered his support for the PMOI members in Ashraf in the hardest of times.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi , President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, offered her condolences to the family of Asatourian, the community of artists, and the Iranian people and emphasized that he has added his name to the everlasting list of the great and martyred Christians in the contemporary history of Iran, from the constitutional revolution to this day.

Andranik Assatourian, the great Iranian composer and musician and a valuable asset to the contemporary Iranian art and music, and a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) passed away early hours of Sunday in a hospital in Los Angeles, California after a difficult battle with cancer. He was 73.
