Call for Justice
For 30,000 Victims of the 1988 Massacre in Iran
Members of the Iranian-American community in Los Angeles will hold a rally on Saturday, August 19, 2017, to condemn the egregious and continuing violations of human rights in Iran, in particular the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran in 1988.
Several current and former officials of the so-called moderate president Hassan Rouhani have been directly involved in that massacre, including the former Justice Minister, Mostafa Pourmohammad, and the newly-appointed minister, Alireza Avayi.
In the month of July alone 101 people were hanged in cities across Iran, several in public. On August 10, 13 victims were hanged in one day.
The Iranian-Americans call on the United States and the United Nations to hold the Iranian regime officials accountable for their crimes against humanity. Any ties with the regime must be predicated on a halt in executions and improvement in the situation of human rights in Iran.
